little women

Girls are fun. We love baking together, decorating is the girls' favorite.
See?
Even Quinn wants to help.
(girl loves to eat too!)
Cece has entered a new phase in her life. She wants to wear the same two dresses every.single.day. Her pink Minnie Mouse dress is her favorite and this halter top is a close second. She thinks it's a dress, so I haven't let her wear it in public yet. ;) Gotta find some cute leggings to go with. I actually got this at a consignment sale for Emma! It is a size 6, but if I tie it tight enough it fits.

And girl has gotta accessorize! Usually it's shoes, headband, necklace and bracelets. It is sweet and cute, but oh my goodness, every day I have to fight the child to put some clothes on. :)

Oh, and on another note, Emma had her first soccer game today! They won, but we don't keep score. ;)

Overdue Update

Sorry I have slacking on the blog lately! Life is busy as usual. We signed Emma up for soccer, Clint has class two nights a week, and get this.. I signed up to play softball! We had our first practice a couple days ago and I am still hurting. I am embarrassed to admit that I haven't moved faster than a walk since becoming pregnant wit Quinn (except chasing Cece in parking lots, or running to Emma's aid after skooter accidents. Oh, and saving Quinn from various dangers... lol) Anyway, sprinting the bases and throwing the ball has made me so sore. I have never felt so old and out of shape! I am still debating on whether to continue to commit myself to play because it seems I will have to miss many practices. Enough about me, onto the interesting stuff.. my sweet girls!

I had a conference today with Emma's teacher. It was interesting to say the least. Apparently Emma is acting out a lot, but still doing extremely well in academics. And it has only started in the last month or so. She said Emma isn't bothering other children or interupting class per se, but it's crazy stuff like her rolling around on the floor, or swinging her scissors around. Emma also has been bullying another child. :( I assumed he was picking on her, but apparently it's mutual. Mrs. Kirkpatrick says she will walk up to him and kick him in the shins. Or he will take her coat and she will hit him. I guess my dad had some truth in his teasing, he calls him her "boyfriend". (this is a boy she knew from soccer) SO, the big question is, how do you teach self control? She does occasionally act silly at home but most of my attention is focused on Cece. I would have thought attention seeking behavior would have started a while ago if that is what it is. I just wonder if she is just under stimulated? She is grounded until she can get two consecutive good weekly reports. So, after discussing all that, we went on to her schoolwork. She is getting an award for reading. Everyone in her class had a goal of reading 30 books this year and taking tests on them (more like writing a response). She reached her 30 the beginning of December. So Ms. K gave her a goal of 60 thinking it would take her the rest of the year. Well, she finished her addtional 30 two days ago. I have known she was an accelerated reader, but when I asked what level she tested in, she couldn't tell me. Apparently Emma has reached the testing limit in her grade. Mrs. K said in the beginning of the year she was on a 6-7th grade level. And to get her correctly assessed she would have to be put in a 4th grade class. But she is reading 3 and 4th grade level books from the library to stay more with her maturity level. She is also excelling in Math, which is surprising to us because she does so well in verbal. She might possibly have memorized the times tables and is working on fractions. We also discussed her CogAT test results. That is a standardized test that all children her age take based on cognitive abilities. It's also what helped place her in the gifted program. She did better than 92, 88, 97 and 98% than other kids in the different sections. It's kinda hard to explain, but she is in the top three percent on the comprehensive part, which covers it all... i.e. the Big Picture. Her SAS score was 130. They claim, that is Not her IQ, but when I google it, apparently that is the cut off used for all the profoundly gifted schools in the nation. The dang Mensa society accepts a 132 on the test to become a member. So while I am extremely proud of her, I am also a bit overwhelmed. I wish we could afford private school but right now we are just saving for the gifted camp this summer.

Whew, I ended up writing a book. I guess I will wait until tomorrow to share about my other two girlies. It is past my bedtime!
