Beach trip

Our small little family of five took a short beach trip before Emma started school. We rented beach chairs with umbrellas and just chilled. It was nice and relaxing and a needed break. Since it was just a few days we didn't make it to all our normal stops (no Boon Docks or Pier Park), but that wouldn't have been as fun without my family anyway.

So as I sit here I keep glancing over at the chair next to me. I swear it's Emma and Cece sitting in the chair, but it's not. It's Cece and Quinn. With Cece's blond hair and profile and the back of Quinn's curly head I am taken back 3 years. I miss those days sometimes.
Today is our first day at home in weeks. Our dear Papa passed away last week. Things I have read say to write down all the happy memories while they are still fresh in the mind. Well, I can't right now, it's too hard. Cece keeps asking why papa died and where heaven is. Emma hasn't said a word about it all. And poor Quinn keeps wandering around saying "papa papa"
With all the late nights and traveling Quinn is finally weaning! :) The last time she nursed was Saturday night when she woke up when we had to put her pjs on and we couldn't get her back to sleep. And the big girl wants to go potty now too. I am constantly holding her on the toilet. Nothing has come out yet, but she wants to be like her big sister.
We went to the doctor last week for diarrhea. She has had it for a month now, but doctor didn't want to do anything about it. She said she looks healthy and weighs 22 pounds and 7 ounces! She feels tiny, but is close to average in weight for age.

prima ballerina

Over the summer Cece took a pre-ballet class. (see her? second from the left) She was always so cute in her little leotard and teeny tiny ballet shoes. She loved going and it was nice that she was able to do something just for Cece. (It's hard being a middle child sometimes) I was able to snap a few pictures on the last day of class, but they aren't the greatest since they were running and galloping. They normally close the door and there are no windows to watch unfortunately.

Quinn missed her big sister, so she gave her a big hug.

Cece loved ballet, but she has already chosen to play soccer this fall! :)

What's up with us

playing with my phone :)

Can you see the glitter lipgloss kiss on Katie's check?

The summer is almost over, this time next week it will be a school night for Emma. It has been a hot one this year and not much for the girls to do, so we got a big pop up pool. They love it, it's big enough for us all to get in, but still shallow enough for Quinn to walk around on her own. And Cece has turned into a little fish! She can swim underwater like nobody's business. Now stick her in a pool where the water is deeper than her and she clings to you like a monkey. sigh
I think the highlight for this break was the trip up to Maryland. We spend two nights in Myrtle Beach on the way up to Maryland to visit Clint's family and for my cousin Katie's wedding. The two oldest girls were flower girls and they were beautiful. It was fun and funny and stressful...you know, all those things that come with having kids out of their element.
We leave in two days for another beach trip! I know the girls are going to have fun, but we will definitely miss my family going like we have done almost every summer since we moved to GA.
